Work opportunities
There are three community pharmacies in Alice Springs. All are in the CBD and are located within major shopping complexes.
Alice Springs Pharmacy, located in the Yeperenye shopping centre, comprising Woolworths and many small shops and eateries.
United Discount Chemists, at the Coles Shopping Village, one of a cluster of independent retail stores.
Priceline Pharmacy, within the Alice Plaza and Target Store complex and close to many government offices and banks.
The usual practice of “sharing” pharmacists between the three stores provides enhanced opportunities for professional development and support and exposes locums to a wide variety of interesting pharmacy services. Pharmacy professionals will encounter a wide array of presentations, and can expect involvement in outreach services to the urban aboriginal medical service, aged care facilities and remote communities. There is also a growing demand for HMRs in Alice Springs.
Two of the pharmacies in Alice Springs provide extensive services to remote aboriginal communities in the NT, northern SA and eastern WA. Enthusiastic staff may be able to travel with Peter, our ‘flying pharmacist’ to some of the remote communities and enjoy fabulous aerial views on their way to work; or accompany Fran on a driving trip through spectacular desert scenery.
Come for the summer and boast about how you survived the heat; then stay for the glorious winter months. Don’t blame us if you never want to leave!
